|RX Bandits interview
Warped Tour * Atlanta, GA * August 1, 2002
BurningStars: What bands or types of music influence your sound?
Steve Choi (guitar/keyboards): The Refused, Tortis, reggae stuff and lots of hip hop.
BS: What are the best and worst things about touring?
Steve Borth (sax/keyboards/vocals): It can be hectic sometimes.
Steve C: It gets smelly, no time to yourself.
Steve B: Your band becomes your family.
BS: How does it feel to be on the Warped Tour this summer?
Steve C: Crazy fun!
Matt Embree (guitar/vocals): Good opportunity to gain new fans.
BS: If you could tour with anyone dead or alive?
Steve B: No Doubt.
Steve C: Less Than Jake.
BS: Have there been any embarrassing moments so far?
Steve B: Don't look at me, I've only been in the band for four months.
Steve C: In October on tour with New Found Glory, I was backstage and two twins were sitting on the couch. I was talking to
them and then Steve from New Found Glory pantsed me and I was standing inches away from the girl's faces in my boxers.
BS: What would you be doing if you weren't in the band?
Steve C: Have an office job doing something bad.
BS: Have there been any weird fan experiences?
Steve C: This one time this girl interviewed us and she had never heard of our band before.
Matt: On tour with The Hippos, we were at this house chilling, when the dad came home and freaked out on the mom, who
was going to take the money and the kids and leave. The dad got his shotgun and threatened everyone. We had to sneak our
and we were staying with strangers.
BS: Where do you see yourselves in ten years?
Steve C: Old!
BS: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
Matt: I wouldn't, if they haven't seen our live show then they don't know.
BS: Do you have any advice for aspiring musicians?
Steve C: Smoke weed and practice really hard.
Matt: Don't do what they want. Don't listen to the radio, don't watch TV. Listen to everything they can. Find the roots of your
music and learn from them. If they listen to Blink 182 a lot go listen to the blues. I believe punk music originated from the
blues. And listen to Robert Johnson.
Chris Tsagakis (drums): Try not to regurgitate your influences.
Matt: Be genuine and honest. Try to be origional.
