Damone
Out Here All Night
Release Date: May 23, 2006
label: Island Records

written by: Maureen Benedict

It has been three years since their debut album, From The Attic, was released.  And now Boston rock band Damone is back
with a new album called Out Here All Night which comes out May 23, 2006 on Island Records.  The band produced this album
themselves, and it was recorded in lead singer/guitarist Noelle’s apartment. When I had first heard the album I thought it was
pretty good, but I have grown to love it after listening to it more. Their sound is like a cross of 80’s rock, with its really amazing
guitar solos, with a little bit of pop punk. But they have their own unique sound too.  There is not one song on this album that
isn’t good. It’s pretty much a really great rock album. Some of the songs that really interested me were “Outta My Way”, “You’re The One”, “New Change Of Heart” and the title track, “Out Here All Night”.  I also enjoyed some of the mellower songs like “On Your Speakers” and “When You Live”. I think the band is on their way up and their fans will be really happy with the new album.  Anyone who digs good rock ‘n’ roll and guitar solos will really enjoy this album.

Taste Of Chaos 2006
John Labatte Center
April 12, 2006
written by: Megan Murphy

April 12th 2006 was a cold and rainy day outside, but inside the John Labatte Center (more commonly known to the locals as 'The JLC') in London Ontario it was hot and teaming with kids of all ages, even adults. Taste of chaos had hit the city of London again and the kids couldn't wait to get out onto the floor to mosh to their favourite bands. The corridors held a sea of black band shirts and studs while the kids all tried to get out onto the floor in the hopes of getting that front row spot. The older guys hung back since they were there to put the chaos in taste of chaos. As soon as Silverstein hit the stage and the lights came on, the mass of bodies on the floor started moving and every kid was screaming the words to each song. Not one person was sitting or standing still, not one kid was left on the ground in the pit. The amount of energy in the building, coming from both band and fan, could have been enough to light up the city. As I lay dying came out and the show only got better, after each band the kids only moshed harder, played rougher while respecting each other. I haven't been to a show like this in a long time, so it really made my year to see that the band/fan relationship really does still exist. The band most of the kids were waiting for wasn't the Deftones, nor was it Thrice as soon as Atreyu came out the kids on the floor went insane. It was loud, it was hot and the kids were sweaty and drinking as much water as they could to keep going. Playing crowd favourites like 'the crimson' and 'ex's and oh's' I couldn't help but turn around while I was taking pictures, to see the looks on the kids faces while they screamed every word along with Alex and Brandon. Arms were outstretched, heads were banging and fists were flying, there was nothing but love coming from the crowd during Atreyu's set. They stole the show right out from under the bands waiting to go on. When they left the stage and the lights went out on the main stage and the focus was once again on the myspace stage the kids started to leave to go out to get some air so they could come back to tear it up for Thrice and Deftones. Thrice had the crowd swaying with lighters in hand, people were singing along with the slower songs and when they picked up pits started near the front in two spots. Sitting up in the seats for this set was amazing since you had full view of the crowd and how it moved with the music.Due to the fact that I don't live in London I had to leave before the Deftones went on in order to make it home. I will say that this tour, Taste of Chaos, is right up there with Warped Tour and Ozzfest in my book. Every year I wait to see when TOC will be hitting London because I refuse to miss it and I know there are hundreds of kids who feel the same way when I say that this year was one of the better years.

All-American Rejects & Fall Out Boy
with Hawthorne Heights & From First To Last
HSBC Arena
April 21, 2006

written by : Julie Magyar

October Fall: If you like these guys, you will definitely like their live show. They don't bring anything new to the table, but they are fun and danceable, and sometimes that's all you need. Some songs they played included "Caught In the Rain" and "Hey Hey". 7/10

From First To Last: I think they would have done much better in a smaller venue. Venues the size of HSBC make it even harder to get into them. The crowd didn't seem that into them either. 5/10

Hawthorne Heights: Like them or hate them, they can keep a crowd going and they are very friendly with the crowd. They have a better live show as opposed to listening to them on CD. They aren't the greatest band around, but they have nice personalities that show as they perform, you can tell they love doing what they do. They opened with "Saying Sorry". 7/10

The All-American Rejects: For me, they were the real highlight of the night. They put on a great show. Not to mention they are one of the most fun bands live. It's easy to get into them. Some of the people around me only seemed interested in their popular singles (ex. "Swing, Swing") but their whole set was enjoyable. 9/10

Fall Out Boy: They had the crowd going even before they made it onstage. Also they kept the crowd going from start to finish. I give them credit, having that many people (an arena full) into you and staying into you and feeling what you're doing the whole time, is pretty incredible. They have a fun show, with the fire and the videos on the screen to go along with the songs, it made it more enjoyable. At one point they had the crowd do the wave. It was better than some of the games I had been to there. It was good to hear old and new songs. They even played "Honorable Mention", a real old song. 8/10

Less Than Jake: A Concert Experience Like None Other
January 24, February 4 and February 6, 2006
written by: Sarah Herman

Five energetic and extremely talented musicians take the stage to play to crowds of screaming teenagers and parents with headaches. People fighting to get up next to the barricades to catch the slightest glimpse that is the musical masterpiece known as Less Than Jake. Less Than Jake has hit the road again to headline a forty city tour in efforts to promote their new album In With the Out Crowd due in stores Spring 2006 (no official date has been set). I had the tremendous pleasure of getting to experience the madness that is a Less Than Jake concert in three of the cities that they were scheduled to play during this tour.

Tuesday January 24, 2006, Less Than Jake played to almost a sold-out crowd in Syracuse, NY at The Furnace. The show was moved from Club Tundra, due to its closing earlier that month. Queue the introduction to "Short Fuse Burning" and the atmosphere in the club shoots from boredom to extreme madness. Mosh pits start stirring and kids are losing their minds. Among other crowd favorites played that night was "History of a Boring Town", "The Ghosts of Me and You" and "She's Gonna Break Soon" just to name a few. Of course, it would not be a Less Than Jake show without their infamous circle pits, and even in this small club, the crowd managed to pull off a hyped-up circle pit. It was definitely a sight to be seen. "Gainesville Rock City" was played as an encore, and watching kids crowd surf and get covered in a foam mix that looked like snow was definitely like no sight I have ever seen at a ska show before. Overall, the guys played 24 songs, all of which got a great reception, it was definitely a good kick-off to my three show adventure with this band.

Saturday, February 4, 2006, it is the night of the Less Than Jake show at the Phoenix Theatre in Toronto, Canada. Being that the drinking age is nineteen in Canada, I had a feeling this would be a show filled with drunken idiots trying to get on stage and massive amounts of crowd surfers. My prediction couldn't have been any more correct. Opening the show again with "Short Fuse Burning" the madness began with a bang. Being thrown against the stage by security while trying to shoot pictures for this show, because of the amount of crowd surfers, was anything but a pleasant experience. The antics were flowing tonight as Chris made jokes about Roger and the rest of the band. The highlight was him begging for Jägermeister shots to be delivered to the stage. This did nothing but amp the crowd up more, and definitely lightened the drunken mood a little. "The Science of Selling Yourself Short", "Jen Doesn't Like Me Anymore", "How's My Driving, Doug Hastings?" and "Sleep It Off" were some of the songs that graced the presence of the crowd's ears. Confetti blowing around in the air landing on the crowd, it is none other than Less Than Jake's encore with none other than the all-time crowd favorite "Gainesville Rock City". It was a great way to end this sold-out show in Toronto, after the encore they had kids begging for some more tunes. Of course, due to the venue turning into a club after the show, their demands were left unattended to, but the show was still one of those one in a million experiences that you never forget.

Monday, February 6, 2006, Less Than Jake hits the stage at Club Infinity in Williamsville, NY. This show was packed with the usual crowd of teenagers ready to see their favorite band take the stage at 10 p.m. After jumping around to the opening acts, the crowd was hyped when the men of Less Than Jake walked onto the stage. They opened this show yet again with "Short Fuse Burning" which was a delight as always. Some of the other tunes they played at this show were &"All My Friends Are Metal Heads", "Escape from An A-Bomb House", "Last One out of Liberty City", and "Magnetic North". Of course, all the songs were well received with a large amount of kids crowd surfing and making mosh pits in the middle of the venue floor. Upset from not receiving his Jägermeister shots in Toronto, Chris once again asked for five shots to be sent to the stage. To the bands luck, two rounds of Jägermeister shots were sent to the stage, and it was never revealed as to who sent the band the shots. During the set, they played a medley which consisted of songs like "Bad Scene & A Basement Show" and "She's Gonna Break Soon". As for their encore for this show, Less Than Jake blasted "Plastic Cup Politics" and "Look What Happened" while confetti blanketed the crowd. It was a brilliant way to end the show, and to end my three show adventure with them.

I can't end this review without stating that at each show, the guys played a new song off their upcoming album In With the Out Crowd. At each show I attended, they played "Overrated" which I am hoping will be the first single off this record due to the crowds' response to the song. It needs to be said that if "Overrated" is any indication of the brilliance of this new record, then I am going to go ahead and say that this is going to be a must-have album of the year 2006. The guys of Less Than Jake have truly outdone themselves yet again. I know the year of 2006 will be a prosperous one for this influential band.
